The Library and Archives Committee is pleased to present:

In 1666 as flames engulfed the City of London, George Tokefield, Clerk to the Company, carried off the Stationers’ most important records to the safety of his house in Clerkenwell. Now, 450 years later, the Company has created a state of the art Archive Centre which will preserve and make accessible these historic documents for another half millennium.

The evening will celebrate this achievement with small group tours of the Tokefield Centre, showing images of its construction, and an exhibition showing the range of material held in the archive, not least those in which Tokefield himself had a hand.

Speakers will include Professor Ian Gadd, who will talk about the Registers, and Liveryman Margaret Willes, who will reveal all about exciting Stationers of the past. All will be served with the customary Company hospitality, which includes a light buffet, wines and soft drinks.

Tickets are £28 each and can be bought online at or by completing the form below, and returning it with your cheque, to the address provided. The closing date for bookings is Monday, 16 April 2018, after when no refunds will be given.
