We are pleased to announce the call for papers for the annual International Women’s Day History Conference ‘Women on the Move’, which will be held at Queen’s University Belfast on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th March 2017.

Whether it was their position in society or physical use of space, women have always been moving throughout history. The theme for this year’s conference seeks to explore ‘women on the move’ across all geographical areas, from the early modern period to the twentieth century. We welcome proposals for papers on, but not restricted to, the following topics:

    Courtships, relationships, marriage and divorce

    Women and activism

  • Revolutionary women

  • Politics

  • Migration

  • Social mobility

  • Leisure

  • Education

Abstracts of 250 words for a twenty minute paper and a short biography should be sent to womenonthemove2017@gmail.com on or before 10th February 2017.
